Word Munchers and Anu Bansal bring to you Parenting Support with Megha Mawandia a parent coach from Mumbai trained with Hand in Hand(USA), Ummeed and TISS. Through the workshop series we will work with parents to help them support their children as they grow to be happy, socially responsible and successful individuals.
"Everyone wants to be happy and successful yet the pursuit of both has never been more elusive. "
Children these days are urged to excel, compete and multitask, pushed to achieve more and craft brilliant careers. This relentless drive many times sacrifices the softer needs of listening, creative thinking and sensitive exploring. The lure of social media compounds this rift leaving us with strained relationship, poor social skills, poor emotional health. Rather than thriving, this pressure leads to declining wellbeing, stress related problems, strained relationships, addictions and paradoxically decreased productivity and unhappiness.
This reality is making parenting difficult and challenging as we are navigating a landscape that is changing faster than we can catch up with it. The pressures on parents to perform as supporters of their children are like never before making it imperative to be armed with an informed approach to make informed choices.

About the organizer
Hand in Hand Parenting is an over 30 year old organisation based out of Palo Alto in California. Backed by cutting edge neuroscientific research, founder Patty Whipler has introduced 5 tools which she believes are at the heart of all parent child relationship struggles. Megha Mawandia is Patty’s mentee and first instructor in India representing Hand in Hand Parenting. Megha was born and raised in Mumbai, India. After working for 10 years Megha took a sabbatical to care for her child with special needs. The emotional journey of supporting her family brought her into this space of counselling. Trained from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hand in Hand Parenting USA and Ummeed Child Development Center, Megha combines her scientific knowledge with her experiences in India to help us with unique solutions that propel our children into a global future. While these tools were created in the USA, Megha has been taking these into her and countless other Indian homes across socio economic profiles. She has seen the repeated success these tools are bringing and the adaptability they have in Indian conservative households as well as international progressive families.
